McDermott Library has a variety of study rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors for both quiet study and collaboration.
Policies
- Study rooms may only be reserved by currently enrolled students.
- Rooms are available for individual or group study.
- Rooms can be reserved during regular library hours.
- Patrons are responsible for monitoring their UTD email accounts for any notifications about due date changes, courtesy reminders, and overdue notices.
- 3rd floor study rooms located within the stacks are available until 9:30 PM during the week (Sunday-Thursday) and until 7:30 PM on the weekend (Friday-Saturday). 3rd floor study rooms located outside of the stacks are open until 1:30 AM (Monday-Thursday) and until 7:30 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Rooms may close earlier during intersessions, university holidays, or during summer hours.
- Room reservations will be held for 15 minutes past the beginning of the reservation time. After 15 minutes, the room becomes available to other individuals/groups.
- Study room keys can be checked out at the Services Desk. Please note that you will need to provide your physical Comet Card to check out study room keys.
- Reservations are limited to four hours maximum, and to one active booking at a time. Reservations may be made up to seven (7) days in advance.
- McDermott Library is a smoke-free, vape-free building.
- Furniture may not be moved into or removed from study rooms.
- The number of patrons in study rooms cannot exceed the maximum occupancy as listed on website.
- All study and technology rooms may be used for individual or group study.
- Failure to follow all study room policies and/or staff instructions will result in the loss of study room privileges.
